The sheriff’s office said they were told Capuchin monkeys are very inquisitive and will grab anything and everything and just start pushing buttons.
It just so happened that a monkey found a cellphone at a California zoo and pushed the right combination of numbers to call 911 emergency services, which subsequently dispatched the nearest police after the supposed distress call got disconnected.
It was concluded that the monkey was the likely caller since not a single person was in the vicinity when the call was made.
This may happen if an emergency call is not confirmed directly by the first responder as the call was still routed to a third-party operator which is 911.
8E-Emergency deters such calls considered as prank or fraudulent because real people in distress are subscribed to the emergency service, with their call for help directly and instantly transmitted to emergency first responders, bypassing third-party operators such as 911.
This is how 8E-Emergency’s technology transforms the way you get help whenever and wherever you are – straight to the first responders in a flash!
