In a bold step towards enhancing safety and disaster preparedness, Judge Feliciano Belmonte Sr. High School has partnered with the pioneering 8E Tech Philippines Corporation to usher in a new era of community engagement and emergency response. The grand Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony, held on August 17, 2023, marks the beginning of an ambitious venture to transform how emergencies are managed within the school and its surrounding neighborhoods.
At the heart of this revolutionary undertaking is the 8E Multi-Emergency Early Response App System (8E MEERAS), a cutting-edge technology that promises a rapid 60-second response time to various emergencies ranging from fire and security incidents to medical crises and natural disasters. Anchored by a seamless call-for-help app and a highly-efficient responder app, this innovation is set to redefine the concept of swift assistance when it matters most.
Aligned with the visionary Republic Act No. 10121, which underscores the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, and DepEd Order No. 21, s. 2015, the collaboration couldn’t come at a more crucial juncture concerning Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Coordination Information Management Protocol. Education institutions nationwide are being called upon to reinvigorate their School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (SDRRM) Committees, a directive Judge Feliciano Belmonte Sr. High School embraces it wholeheartedly.
Under the expert guidance of CEO Mr. Joseph James Dequito, 8E MEERAS brings together a constellation of partners committed to safeguarding the community. Among the key players in this ambitious partnership are Jr. Medic Society, a force led by founder and chairman Mr. Ritchie Ramirez, and a consortium of entities that forms a protective web encompassing the Department of Education (DepEd), the Bureau of Fire Protection-Quezon City (BFP-QC), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Southern Quezon City Health Department, the Southern Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (SOQC-DRRM), and the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO).
Even more remarkable is the multi-layered collaboration that draws strength from diverse quarters, including Barangay Holy Spirit, the School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA), the Barangay Emergency Response Team (BERT), the Red Cross Youth (RCY), the Supreme Student Government (SSG), and the stalwart Boy and Girl Scouts of the Philippines (BSP and GSP).
Dr. Edna BaƱaga, School Principal IV, and Ms. Erlinda G. Amparo, Assistant School Principal II, expressed their excitement about the immense potential of this partnership to create a safer and more resilient environment for students and residents alike. The future looks brighter and safer with such a constellation of community champions.
As the 8E MEERAS initiative takes flight, Judge Feliciano Belmonte Sr. High School stands at the vanguard of a transformative movement, proving that collaboration and innovation are the cornerstones of a secure and thriving community. The grand MOA signing is not just a ceremony but promises a safer, better future for all.
