Two people died after a fire gutted a crowded residential community in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the victims, a woman and her son, were trapped when flame engulfed their home and 20 other houses in the neighborhood. It took firefighters nearly three hours, until early Saturday morning, to completely extinguish the fire that affected at least 119 families or almost 500 residents.

Three sisters, all senior citizens, died when fire hit several houses in Taytay, Rizal on Sunday night. A relative of the victims said that two of the sisters were able to leave their burning house. However, they went back to get their sibling who had a disability. Unfortunately, they were all trapped inside the burning house and died. The BFP said the blaze quickly spread from one house to two houses. The BFP said firemen had a difficult time putting out the fire. It again reminded the public to exercise caution to prevent fires.
